Tea Gardens Hotel Showcases Local Talent in Diverse Art Exhibition

The Dolphin Room at Tea Gardens Hotel is set to become a vibrant hub of artistic creativity from the 18th to the 22nd of September, just ahead of the school holiday season. The room will house an eclectic collection of over 100 pieces of art from various local talents, spanning a range of mediums including painting, printmaking, woodworking, and mosaics. This artistic rendezvous is designed to ignite passion and inspire appreciation for the diverse themes and inspirations encapsulated in each piece.

Among the showcased artists is Julia Ross, a distinguished recipient of the 2D Anderson Art Award earlier this year. Ross’s captivating oil-on-canvas seascapes, depicting the stunning aquatic vistas of Port Stephens, are a testament to her frequent coastal visits. Her works serve as an artistic homage to the region’s natural beauty, sure to resonate with all who appreciate the majesty of our local beaches and bays.

Geraldine Thomas offers a unique perspective through her ceramics and mosaics, crafted from recycled materials and tiles. Thomas’s process is as much about destruction as it is about creation, deriving equal pleasure from breaking down materials as she does from assembling them into intricate mosaics that rival those of ancient Rome. She describes her work as a layered process, building both the background and the foreground to create a dynamic 2D to 3D effect.

Liz Cheers, initially a framer, has evolved into creating intricate flat and embossed prints alongside delicate collages of local native leaves on silk paper. Her work reflects the exquisite potential of everyday materials when framed within an artistic context.

The therapeutic potential of art is embodied in Lynne Young’s acrylic paintings. Her focus on human and animal subjects, particularly the eyes, fosters a sense of connection that invites viewers to become a part of the art itself.

Grahame Bell’s woodworking pieces showcase the transformative power of craftsmanship. From a simple log to Thor’s mighty hammer, or a laminated fence post to rustic bowls and candleholders, his work is a testament to the magic of a well-loved hobby. His pieces may even inspire a Colourbond fence painter near me to see the artistic potential in their work.

Rudy Jacobs’ oil paintings are a visual diary of his travels across Australia. Having covered over 23,000km last year alone, Jacobs never retraces his steps, instead choosing to continuously explore new terrains. His work brings the beauty of Australia to life, serving as a testament to the country’s diverse landscapes.

The art exhibition at Tea Gardens Hotel’s Dolphin Room heralds an artistically vibrant spring season along the Myall Coast. As the school holidays and Labour Day long weekend approach, more art shows are poised to open, offering locals and visitors alike an opportunity to immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of local artistic talent.

Whether you’re a garage door painting enthusiast, a professional in the fence repairs near me industry, or simply an art lover, this exhibition promises a feast for the senses. So, mark your calendars and prepare to be inspired by the artistic prowess on display at the Dolphin Room this September.
